« on: August 04, 2009, 01:57:25 PM »
Welcome to the CF9 beta forum!  We're about to make ColdFusion 9 beta plans available tomorrow (August 5th) We've just released ColdFusion 9 beta plans, and we're pretty excited about getting it out.  This beta offering is fully backed by Adobe, so your feedback here is important.

You'll be able to order the plans after about 3PM (PDT, GMT -7) Aug. 5  now at http://www.crystaltech.com/coldfusion9.aspx.

Some cool stuff you might be interested in:

*Yes, these beta plans are free... so if you're a CF developer, why not, right?
*We're hosting these on Windows Server 2008/IIS7.
*You get a SQL 2008 database as well
*The hosting specs are the same as our normal CF Intermediate plans... so you get plenty of disk space to work with

If you're a CF developer, you might already be familiar with most of the new features... but here are some pretty good links to check out:

How long until these will need to be turned into paid accounts?

Thanks

Not until CF9 is officially out of beta... with Adobe Max coming up early October, my best guess would be a launch at that time.

Whenever that may be, we'll certainly let everyone know before hand.

Is RDS enabled?  I'm trying to set up an RDS connection in ColdFusion Builder using the IP address for the server, and I'm getting a 404 error.

I was fooling with CF builder tonight, and I was noticing alot of things with connecting it to the CF9 server (Weba4).

1. RDS actually allows for individual accounts this time around :) however, these are not automatically generated when a CF9 account is ordered, so this would have to be addressed.

2. Enabling connection to our server via CF Builder took be about an hour, and I was getting "Unable to retrieve datasource" error. I tried to google for a solution, but I think CF builder is still too new.

3. I had to add my own IP address to a Trusted Users file in the CF9 admin directory to even connect to the CF server.. Not sure what kind of impact this will have on our ability to allow customers to connect. Or if this can be turned off... Im going to peep around the internets and see if there is any answers to this :)

Thanks, Kevin.  So it sounds like for now, we shouldn't expect RDS to work with CFBuilder?  Too bad it doesn't offer a straight FTP connection like CF Studio did.

Actually, it does offer FTP connections. I've been utilizing it for awhile now. It's even borrowed some features as Dreamweaver (syncronizing, cloaking, etc.)

The FTP in Builder seems really slow.  It didn't seem to be as slow at first, anyone else experience this?

It's always been extremely fast for me, although I haven't utilized it in the past few days.
